The Taoiseach says new Covid antiviral pills could start arriving in Ireland in the coming weeks.
The government is to spend €90m on the drugs developed by Pfizer, Merck and GlaxoSmithKline.
They're seen as an additional tool to help reduce the number of people becoming seriously ill from Covid.
Taoiseach Micheal Martin says Ireland will be availing of the antivirals which will be available soon.
"The decision to procure, the Minister has been given the green light.
"It will be some weeks yet, but that's work that's underway between the companies and the HSE in terms of when that timeline can be completed, and accelerated if necessary."
