Micheál Martin was speaking on a visit to the Share Crib on Patrick Street in the city this afternoon.
1.87 million boosters have been administered since the campaign was launched, with over 300,000 given out in the past three days.
Speaking to RedFM News, Taoiseach Micheál Martin says almost half the adult population have been given a booster:
"And all of this is very, very important because it will give protection against serious illness, hospitalisation and Intensive Care Units. And that's the key objective of this. And I want to thank the people for coming forward in such numbers, and also the GPs, the pharmacies, and the vaccinators who've really been phenomenal in terms of their work over the last number of weeks, and we're going to continue with the same momentum now. Obviously, there'll be break for Christmas Day and Stephen's Day and then we will move beyond that again."
