The Taoiseach says Ireland is learning to live with Covid but it is challenging.
458 people are in hospital today with the virus, a fall for the fourth day in row.
The daily case numbers have surpassed 3,000 twice this week.
Micheal Martin says the figures are worrying but early indications are the booster campaign is having an impact.
"We are concerned about the increasing numbers, and we are always concerned about the impact of Covid on hospitalisations and ICUs.
"We can see it in other countries across Europe, similar concerns are there also.
"As we move along we're learning to live with Covid, and it is challenging.
"But on the vaccination front, the booster campaign is important."
