Taoiseach says COVID19 payments will be extended but he doesn't know for how long

The Taoiseach says he doesn't know how long the government will continue providing the emergency COVID-19 payments.

Leo Varadkar has said the unemployment payment and the wage subsidy scheme will be extended beyond their current mid-June expiry date.

He's also told the Dáil the Coronavirus may have been in Ireland as early as December.

While he's confirmed the extension of the wage supports, Leo Varadkar warned they're not sustainable long term:
