Taxi drivers say they are at serious risk from the coronaries outbreak and want the Department of Transport to give them guidance on how they can continue to operate.
Many drivers have contracted work, like bringing cancer and dialysis patients to hospital for regular procedures.
Vinny Kearns is CEO of NXT Taxis in Dublin- he says his drivers might be unwilling to pick up fares from the side of the road.
"I know that they will be willing to work safely, know who their customers are, and if it's regular customers that they're used to transporting to and from appointments, hospitals or emergencies for that matter, they'll be quiet willing to work as long as they can.
"I think the majority of drivers in companies such as our own company are used to doing contract work, and would prefer to focus their attention on that."
