It's hoped two live events will convince public health officials to allow gigs to return safely.
Arts Minister Catherine Martin says there will be test events at the Abbey Theatre and the National Concert Hall next weekend.
The Irish Chamber Orchestra will give a Christmas concert - while a series of solo plays will be performed at the Abbey.
Minister Catherine Martin says it will be a step back towards normality.
"These test performances follow the recommendations of the Arts and Culture Recovery Taskforce, which recommended the treatment of cultural activities to be reviewed.
"Hopefully these indoor test live performances will help chart that way forward for the reopening of other venues, because we're all in this together and it's these test pilots will help the others."
