That's according to new research from UCC and the 30% Club
It says women tend to make up a higher proportion of part-time and precarious work which may mean they are more vulnerable to being laid off.
Data from 2015 to 2018 shows the number of women in the lower levels of management increased from 30 to 45%, while the number at CEO level increased from 14 to 18%.
The figures come as UCC's Cork University Business School announces two new full scholarships to help promote women in senior project management, human resources and leadership roles within organisations.
