It's in place of the Cork City Marathon
The annual Leeside race, which is now in its 14th consecutive year, was cancelled earlier this week due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
It had been rescheduled to take place on September 6th, however Cork City Council and the marathon organisers decided to postpone the physical marathon until 2021.
Instead a series of online virtual races will begin today and continue throughout the Summer, which will allow people to run solo or in small groups and submit their times online.
All the while, supporters can cheer on family members and friends taking part across the Cork City Marathon social media channels.
