Its vaccination taskforce is set to hold its second meeting later this afternoon
Here it will discuss the various vaccines being developed.
The group will consider their different storage requirements and how they might be rolled out across the population.
Elizabeth Canavan, Assistant Secretary General at the Department of An Taoiseach, says it won't be an overnight process:
'We've all heard the positive reports on various vaccines. We've been working very hard here, and with our European partners to make sure we are prepared to get this to as many people as possible as quickly as we can. And while the news is positive, it will take time.'
