The Health Minister Says People Should Not Panic As The Number Of Cases Of The Coronavirus Rise

EU health ministers met today to consider the Europe-wide response to the spread of COVID-19

Here in Cork visitor restrictions have been introduced at nursing homes, Cork University and Maternity hospitals along with the Mercy University Hospital, South Infirmary Victoria University Hospital, Bantry General Hospital and Mallow General Hospital.

60 Cork University Hospital staff are self isolating after a man in his 40's at the hospital was diagnosed with coronavirus.

He is the first confirmed case of community transmission of Covid 19 and the Director of Public Health for HSE South says his family and close community contacts have been informed and public health advice given to them.

The public health department have been working with the hospital to risk assess any contact with the patient during his stay in the hospital as some days passed after his admission to CUH
