The RNLI And Irish Coastguard Have Renewed Their Joint Appeal For People Not To Use The Sea For Exercise

Both organisations are concerned that as the restrictions continue, people may become complacent and be tempted to take to the water or coastal areas for recreation.

Government instructions are urging people to stay home, protect frontline services and save lives.

The Coastguard says there have been a number of callouts during the Covid-19 restrictions, mainly to fishing vessels and medical issues, but they are reminding people that every callout has the potential to put additional pressure on search and rescue services.

Speaking to RedFM News Gerard O'Flynn from the Coastguard says now is not the time to be complacent:
