Vaccination has already begun in the UK
A high-level taskforce has completed its work on the logistics of vaccinating millions of people.
Stephen Murphy reports:
'The rollout of a Covid-19 vaccine is an almost unprecedented challenge for the Irish health service. European regulators are expected to approve the Pfizer jab at the end of this month - and it could be available here a few days later. The cabinet's already decided nursing home residents, frontline healthcare workers and over 70s will be first in line. A high-level taskforce looking at the logistics of rolling it out has now completed its work. Among those recommendations will be a communications campaign to encourage uptake and push back against misinformation. The report will also cover how doses would be delivered, stored and administered. And there'll be an online system which will see some people asked to self-register to get the vaccine. Health officials say the vaccine won't be a silver bullet - and people need to keep following the restrictions, especially ahead of Christmas.'
