The Foreign Affairs Minister will face a no confidence motion in the Dail this evening over the Katherine Zappone controversy.

Simon Coveney's expected to survive the vote put forward by Sinn Fein, after government parties indicated they'll be supporting the Fine Gael minister.

His handling of the now defunct appointment of Ms Zappone - a former colleague - to a newly created UN role has drawn criticism in recent weeks.

Ryanair is considering reopening its base at Cork Airport.

The base was closed due to the pandemic, however Ryanair later said it may not reopen it until at least winter due to the temporary closure of the airport.

Cork Airport say the decision to close the airport for ten weeks was taken to allow the main runway to be reconstructed, with management saying the full closure will allow them to get the project completed quicker and cheaper than a nightime-only closure.

The Cork Simon Community say the level of family homelessness in Cork has fallen dramatically in recent months.

The latest report from the Department of Housing shows there were 52 families living in emergency accommodation in the South West region of Cork and Kerry- a decrease of 14 families compared to the same time last year.

The charity say the decrease is partly down to the moratorium on evictions during the pandemic, but say cases of single people becoming homelessness are slowly rising.

The Chief Medical Officer says the possibility of Covid-19 restrictions can't be ruled out in the future.

Dr Tony Holohan will tell an Oireachtas Committee later new measures "may be required", despite high vaccination rates.

He'll tell TD's and Senators the trajectory of the disease remains uncertain, and so an "agile" response will be needed.
