Three Private Hospitals Taken Over To Help Deal With Covid-19 Pandemic Accommodated No Patients In April

According to figures released to the Irish Times, overall, two inpatient beds out of three remained empty for the month in the almost 20 private hospitals covered by the deal.

The HSE says occupancy rates have increased since then.

It's reported private hospitals may pull out of the agreement which has seen the State take over their facilities during the crisis if the HSE does not increase the number of patients it is sending.

Fianna Fáil's Health Spokesperson Stephen Donnelly says he thinks the contracts should end in their current form:
