The Teachers Union of Ireland is calling on the Department of Education to bring in a protocol to protect teachers from lobbying over Leaving Cert marks.
It's after the TUI and the Association of Secondary Teachers in Ireland both backed replacing this year's Leaving Cert exams with calculated grades.
The Teachers Union of Ireland says it's vital safeguards are brought in to ensure educators' professional integrity is protected.
Its General Secretary, John McGabhann says they want steps taken to deter lobbying.
"any effort to canvas would require the a record be kept, and that would require also that that record would then be forward to the Department of Education and Skills.
"We believe that this would have a deterrent effect.
"We have already engaged with the Department about this, we have have been engaging with the Department and other parties over the weekend, and we would be hopeful this would be put in place."
