Up to 500,000 expected to be out of work as COVID19 crisis continues

The Social Protection Minister has accepted that up to half a million people could be out of work because of the coronavirus pandemic.

58,000 applications have already been made for a special Covid 19 jobseekers payment.

So far, 43,000 have been processed and people will be paid at the start of next week.

Minister Regina Doherty accepts that up to 500,000 workers could be impacted in the coming weeks:
