The Housing Minister says he’s very confident a Covid 19 vaccine will be rolled out here swiftly, early in the New Year.
A taskforce, which has been set up to manage the administration of the vaccine, will report to the Government this week.
It comes as the first batches of a Covid 19 jab will be given to people in Northern Ireland in the coming days.
Minister Darragh O’Brien says vaccines will also be given here soon.
"Advance preparation is happening and detailed preparations, and I'm very confident that we'll be able to and will manage a very well organised and swift roll out of the vaccines in the New Year.
"The Taoiseach and the Minister for Health will be communicating that once that comes to Cabinet and comes to Government later this week."
