The government will begin phasing out pandemic support payments from October, according to the Tánaiste.
Leo Varadkar told his parliamentary party last night no changes are likely in the third quarter.
He said a plan for the fourth quarter will be outlined next week.
Sinn Fein spokesperson on employment, Louise O'Reilly, says the first step should be removing the current 'cliff-edge' in June.
"What I would like to see is the Tánaiste actually engaging directly with the sector in one to one meetings and set out a plan.
"Not just on how they're going to cut the supports, but how those supports can be maintained for those workers and those businesses."
