The HSE say anyone with queries about visiting times should phone the hospital directly.

CUH, CUMH, the Mercy, Bantry General, Mallow General and the South Infirmary Victoria University Hospital have implemented the restrictions, which they say are in the interest of patient safety and in order to prevent the spread of infection.

They are also asking the public to contact their GP or SouthDoc in the first instance and to explore all options before presenting to the emergency department if their needs are not urgent.
