Vital Oncology Services Are Continuing At Cork University Hospital

That's despite the difficulties thrown up by the Covid-19 pandemic

In the past six weeks over 400 new patients who are suspected of having cancer have attended rapid access clinics, 200 people have started radiotherapy treatment, 50 have started chemotherapy while vital cancer surgery has also continued as normal.

Front line medical staff say people are beginnning to return to hospital for urgent non-Covid treatment, following concern that some people would not seek help.

Speaking to RedFM News, Oncology consultant at CUH Dr Richard Bambury says while some appointments have been cancelled, staff have made a huge effort to ensure those who need treatment are safe:
