Women's Aid says it has had calls to its helpline from women in their garden shed as a result of domestic abuse during lockdown.

It comes as Gardai have launched a new phases of their operation to help victims of domestic abuse during Covid-19.

There has been an 18 percent increase in calls for help to Gardai in relation to domestic violence issues since last year.

CEO of Women's Aid, Sarah Benson, says lockdown makes the situation worse:
