The County Council is to erect fencing to block access to the wreck of the MV Alta which washed up in Ballycotton nearly three years ago
280 metres of fencing is to be erected alongside the cliff, lockable pedestrian gates are to be installed and warning signs will be placed at numerous locations surrounding the wreck.
The ship was washed up at Ballyandreeen Bay during Storm Denis in February 2020 and has gradually been breaking up on site.
There are currently no plans to move the wreck as however the local authority is continuing to liaise with the Department of Transport on any residual risks associated with the MV Alta
