Cuts in public transport fares for 24 and 25 year-olds are being welcomed.

This age group can now travel half price on all services since yesterday.

It's part of the latest expansion of discounts for Young Adult Card holders.

Fianna Fáil Transport Spokesperson and Cork TD James O'Connor, says it also applies to fares on some commercial buses:

"So people between the ages of 24 and 25 are no extenders to avail of 50% discounts on fares on public transport. This will extend to services that are covered under PSO and participate in commercial bus services. It's greatly welcome around cutting the costs of living, encouraging people to use public transport services."
