A football club in Douglas has condemned an act of vandalism on its defibrillator over the Bank Holiday weekend.

College Corinthians AFC chose to make one of its defibrillators accessible to people in the community who might need it during a medical emergency.

On Saturday morning, the caretaker of the club realised the medical device had been destroyed overnight.

EireMed has offered to replace the club's defibrillator so it can continue to provide the medical device to people in the community.

Speaking to RedFM News, Chairman of College Corinthians John O’Regan says if the club had CCTV near the defibrillator, the vandalisers would be facing criminal charges:

"To replace this one because of the unit, you're looking at between €1,500 and €2000 but it's not about the money, it's the fact that it saves peoples lives. I believe if the people were caught that they would be facing criminal charges of some type."
