An end to the long running row over Garda rosters is in sight.
Members of the Garda Representative Association will now vote on proposals agreed by its national executive.
Here in Cork the interim roster introduced in November saw the Cork City Roads Policing Unit starting at 10am instead of 7am and concerns were raised that this could lead to traffic “chaos” in the city should an early morning incident occur
Agreement has now been reached on Garda rosters and GRA President Brendan O'Connor says the rosters are similar to the ones being operated on an interim basis at the moment:
"What we have is a document has emerged from the process we're involved in, which has our support. As a negotiating team, we presented that to our executive or national executive yesterday who endorsed it. And that will now go to a ballot of our membership. So it's fairly reflective of the GRS rosters that were that we proposed and that we're working as an interim measure at the moment."
