An external investigation is underway at Cork University Hospital after allegations of racism were made.
It's understood the allegations are being made by nurses from overseas who work in CUH.
The overseas nurses working in CUH who say they were subject to racial abuse are being supported by Migrant Nurses Ireland.
It's understood that the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation received a petition signed by 29 nurses with a range of allegations made at the hospital.
In a statement to RedFM News, CUH says:
"Cork University Hospital welcomes and benefits from a very diverse workforce and it is vital that all staff feel valued and respected. Therefore, Management at the hospital are treating the allegations very seriously and look forward to a prompt outcome to the investigation.
CUH wish to confirm that an independent external investigation is currently underway into a series of allegations, therefore, it would be inappropriate to comment while this investigation is ongoing."
