The families of the Whiddy Island disaster are calling for the Government to take action following the Stardust Inquest verdict.
It's been over 45 years since 50 people were killed when the ship they were working on exploded off Bantry Bay.
Taoiseach Simon Harris will make an official state apology to the families of those who died in the Stardust nightclub fire in 1981 after the jury at last weeks inquests found all 48 victims were unlawfully killed.
Speaking to RedFM News, Michael Kingston of the French-Irish Association of Relatives and Friends of the Betelgeuse says the state must also engage with the families of the victims of the Whiddy Island Disaster:
"In the Dáil tomorrow there will be a state to the Stardust families. But that will be void of any iota of moral authority and circumstances where the state cannot engage in any meaningful way with the families of the Whiddy Island disaster, or indeed other families who are enduring eternal torture following loss in the state where it is obvious that it is not being investigated properly at a victim's inquest. "
