The Finance Minster says the cost of damages caused by flooding in Cork could be well over €10m.
Michael McGrath says the damage caused to infrastructure as well as homes and businesses in places like Midleton and Glanmire is still being assessed.
Minister McGrath says the Government will start allocating funding to businesses who were affected as early as next week and people whose homes were flooded can already apply for funding.
Speaking to RedFM News, the Minister says the Government doesn’t have an estimate of the overall cost of the flood damage in Cork yet:
"I think it's important to reassure people that when we quote a figure of 10 mil, that is not a cap on the level of public support that will be forthcoming for homes, for businesses and public infrastructure. It will take some time to assess the scale of the damage and the cost we are still at a dangerous point , there is still a risk of further flooding so we're not at the end of this yet."
