Firefighters in the city have agreed not escalate their industrial action for the time being following a meeting with the City Council.
The meeting yesterday which centres around the status of Ballincollig Fire Station and the lack of a full time crew in the town follows over a month of industrial action by around 150 firefighters in the city.
No agreement was reached at the meeting and it’s not known what the Council have proposed regarding the reopening of the station, however crews say they remain hopeful of a positive outcome.
Another meeting between the Council and representatives for the City Fire Service is expected to take place early next week.
Speaking to RedFM News, SIPTU rep and Cork City Firefighter Billy Crowley says crews are losing their patience and want the matter to be resolved.
"I think it's being stretched very very thin.
"For myself as a member of the negotiating team, I'm having to do as much work to keep things on an even keel with firefighters as I am on the other side of the house.
"Unfortunately no progress was made at the meeting. We are still in the process, and we are hopeful of a positive outcome."
