The five-day moving average of Covid-19 cases has increased by 16% in the past week, much lower than the increase over the previous seven days.
123 people are in hospital with the virus and 22 patients are being treated in intensive care.
CUH is currently at capacity and Cork Consultant Corinna Sadlier is warning people in the Echo this morning to do all they can to lessen to surge in the virus.
Trinity College Dublin School of Biochemistry Associate Professor Tomás Ryan says case numbers have 'plateaued'.
"We're on a trajectory that is worse than NPHET's pessimistic scenarios already, and that's before indoor hospitality is opened.
"At the same time in the last few days there seems to have been some kind of a plateau.
"It's not clear how much of this plateau might be due to different effects locally versus travel."
