The latest homeless figures show that there's more children homeless than ever before and more of them were homeless for longer.
Focus Ireland is appealing to the Government to adopt a different approach to homeless this year in an effort to tackle it once and for all.
204 children in the Cork and Kerry region were accessing emergency accommodation in November while over 13,000 people around the country were officially homeless.
Conor Culkin of Focus Ireland told RedFM News that homelessness in Cork could be significantly reduced over the next 12 months if there was a fairer allocation of social housing.
"In Cork and Kerry there's over 204 children homeless. So that's obviously a much lower number. So if there was a fair allocation of social housing particularly for the most vulnerable children, there is no reason why 2024 We you know, homelessness cannot be ended in Cork certainly from a child and family perspective.
