The former Dunnes Stores on North Main Street is being converted into a vaccine centre in the city centre.
The news comes as the last appointments at the Páirc Uí Chaoimh vaccination centre took place on Tuesday afternoon, almost six months after the first vaccinations were administered there in March.
The HSE has confirmed that planning work is well underway for the next phase of the vaccination programme and in Cork this includes reorganising and consolidating the vaccination programme with the establishment of a new vaccination centre in the city centre.
Tradesmen are said to be working around the clock to prepare the former Dunnes Stores retail unit, which closed in 2016, for a reopening within weeks.
An opening date for this new vaccination centre has not yet been finalised.
