Free sanitary products to be provided for students at MTU

Free sanitary products are to be provided for students at Munster Technological University in an attempt to tackle period poverty.

The Sunday Independent reports this 'Code Red' initiative is also trying to address taboo, and will also include workshops, events and talks.#

It's estimated that Irish women spend an average of 132 euro a year on tampons and sanitary towels.

However around half of young women struggle to afford the products.
