The GAA is meeting to finalise plans for capacity at the All-Ireland football final.
A decision is expected later today on how many fans can attend the Mayo versus Tyrone match on September 11th.
From next week, outdoor events can operate at 75 per cent capacity for fully vaccinated people - or else 50%.
The GAA is trying to work out if around 60,000 people will be allowed into Croke Park with vaccine passes, or 40,000 without them.
Daniel McConnell, political editor with the Irish Examiner, says sports events could go back to full capacity on October 22nd.
"From many people's point of view that would be very welcome, however obviously given the rise of the Delta variant, and the scenes and the concern expressed outside Croke Park after the All Ireland Hurling final.
"There would be concerns that crowds of that nature would be able to socially distance properly or keep a lid on the virus."
