It was an historic day for Cork camogie in Croke Park.

The Rebels were crowned senior and intermediate champions, the seniors beating Galway 1-16 to 16 points.

The intermediate side meanwhile had a narrow win over Kilkenny, 1-11 to 1-10.

Senior star Laura Hayes says Galway were an exceptional team.

"They threw everything at us, they really really did. Our backs were to the wall for a lot of that game, but to be fair to the girls we held our composure and we're very lucky to come out on the winning side of it."

Niamh O'Leary from the Cork intermediate side

"Coming up here we knew it was going to be an almighty battle, and that's what it was.

"If you told me we were going to come here and get a one point win I'd have taken that! We're buzzing, we're absolutely delighted."

The homecoming for the intermediate and senior sides takes place this evening at Castle Road. Gates will open at 5.30, with both teams due on stage from 6.30.
