Cork’s Minor footballers were crowned Munster Champions Last night

The Rebels defeated Limerick in Semple stadium on a scoreline of 1-17 to 13 points.

It means that Cork are Munster champions at minor and under 20 level in both football and hurling - the first time that cork have won all of the underage Munster titles since 2005

Speaking after last night’s match Cork boss Michael O’Brien said that coming down the stretch, their bench made a big impact.

"I think all the five substitutions made a huge impact in the game.

"It really was the substitutions that made it.  It brought a bit more energy into the middle of the pitch, where we were able to create space and then create scores."

It's Cork's first Munster title at minor level in 11 years, and the Rebels were helped by a man of the match performance from Hugh O'Connor, the Newmarket man scoring 1-7. O'Brien singled him out for praise afterwards, and said it was a top notch display from the forward.

"Hugh played last year as well, he's a top class player. He showed it again tonight.

"Also I think Shane O'Connell at full back - when he went into midfield, he plays at midfield with his club Kilshannig, he really gave a lot of energy around the middle of the park."

Cork will play the winners of the Ulster final between Donegal and Tyrone, which is set for Brewster Park in Eniskillen on Friday evening.
