Mourners will pay their final respects to 24 year old Dillon Quirke who will be laid to rest later this morning after passing away following a championship hurling match at Semple Stadium last Friday evening.
He took ill late in the first half of the game between Quirke’s Clonoulty-Rossmore and Kilruane McDonaghs and quickly received medical attention on the pitch before being transferred to Tipperary University Hospital by ambulance where he passed away.
The Chairman of the Tipperary GAA County Board Joe Kennedy says Dillon was a born leader who showed incredible potential on the hurling pitch.
"Dillon cemented his place on the Tipperary team this year, in a year that probably didn't go great for us Dillon was one of our rising stars.
"He was certainly a bright for the future, and for Liam Cahill coming in as manager he certainly would have been a man you would have been expected to cement his place and be a leader.
"He was a leader for Clonoulty, he was a leader for Tipperary."
