Kerry hurling manager Stephen Molumphy claimed after his sides loss to Down in the Joe McDonagh Cup first round on Saturday, that Crotta O'Neills clubman Shane Nolan "pulled himself off the panel" after being told he would be a substitute for the encounter in Tralee.
Nolan, who has been on the county panel for over a decade told The Kerryman he was "shocked and disappointed" at Molumphy's comments.
He went on to clarify that he left the set-up due to family and work commitments, Shane's partner had given birth to their first child in the previous week.
