It was an evening of high drama in the Bons Secours Premier Senior Football Championship semi finals yesterday.
St Finbarr's advanced to the decider for the first time since 2018 with an epic penalty shootout win over Castlehaven, gaining revenge for last year when the West Cork side defeated the Barrs on penalties.
The sides finished level on 3-16 a piece after extra time, with the game finishing all square at 3-11 a piece at the end of normal time.
Goalkeeper John Kerins was the hero for the Barrs, saving a penalty and then stepping up to score the winning one to send his side through.
And speaking to Cork's RedFM afterwards, the netminder said it was an incredible game.
"Goalkeeping is a pressure position at the best time, so to stand up for the penalty and to score the last one it is something special, and hopefully now we'll have something to carry over for the county final now in two week's time.
"We got the monkey off the back from last year in beating Castlehaven today.
"We played Clon in the group stages, they're a decent outfit and we know what they're capable of.
"They have some lads that are very decent and very strong, straight down the spine from Mark White down as far Dara O'Se and Jack O'Mahony, so they're very decent.
"We know what we're capable of as well, we'll put the work in now over the next two weeks and develop what we can and try and push on for Clon."
Clonakilty meanwhile had a more straightforward path to the final, defeating Douglas on a scoreline of 15 points to 1-11.
It's Clon's first final appearance since 2009, when they lifted the Andy Scannell cup in defeating St Finbarr's in the decider.
Selector for the west Cork side Eoin Ryan was happy with their showing.
"It was a really good performance, we played really well for most of it, even though at the end we were hanging on.
"At five points up we were going well, but the penalty obviously made it a lot closer, we played very well, the first half was very impressive stuff.
"I suppose to be honest with you, it's unexpected that we're here. Our aim was to get out of the group, and we did that. We beat Duhallow, we beat Douglas, and now we have the final. That's going to be a big step up, no matter who we play in the final they're going to be favourites.
"But we'll come up, we'll give it a shot and we'll play the football as best we can."
