Cork's RedFM and the Big Red Bench are delighted to launch the Ladies Football Podcast.
The podcast, hosted by Ladies Football Local Journalist of the Year Ger McCarthy, will cover all levels of ladies football around the county and beyond, from underage right up to the senior inter-county side.
Episodes will be published fortnightly on Thursdays at noon through the Big Red Bench podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify Podcasts, and online through RedExtra.ie - Episode 1 is available now.
Speaking on the launch, Ger said.
"I'm delighted to be joining the Big Red Bench team with the Ladies Football Podcast.It's one of the fastest growing sports in the country. There are thousands of young girls all over the country taking part, and Cork is no different.
"We have a fantastic set up in Cork, both in West, Mid, North and East the four divisions, not to mention each of the development squads that are taking place over the summer.
"Add to that all the minor, under 16 and under 14 action, then we get to the seniors with Ephie Fitzgerald and a very talented squad. There's a lot happening and a lot to talk about."
Along with regular news and interviews, every episode will feature a Club Focus segment, where Ger will profile a Cork club. If you would like to have your club featured email [email protected] - and Ger wants to talk to as many clubs as he can.
"We want the clubs throughout the county to get involved with the podcast. We want to interview as many clubs as we can and talk to them about what they're doing from the ground level up."
Ger was honoured recently by the Ladies Gaelic Football Association as their Local Journalist of the year for his work covering the sport in Cork. And Ger will bring that level of detail to the Big Red Bench Ladies Football Podcast.
"It was very surprising! But a very welcome award. Delighted with it. I'm lucky enough to be the person reporting on all the fantastic work that's being done on the ground in Cork and beyond.
There's so much going on across the divisions and at inter-county level. It's the quiet revolution - there's so much happening, so many girls and so many ladies are involved. And I'm delighted the Big Red Bench are putting out this podcast."
