The Gardaí's annual Christmas and New Year Road Safety Campaign is now underway.
172 people have been killed in road collisions already this year, 12 of those deaths happened on Cork roads.
Assistant Commissioner Paula Hillman wants people to stay safe:
"We want everyone to get to where they're going safely, and have that time with their family. We don't want to be coming to people's houses to give them devastating news that they've lost a loved one or that someone is seriously injured".
