A Garda based in the south of the country has been arrested following allegations of abuse of minors.
In a statement issued to RedFM News Garda Press has confirmed that the Garda at the centre of the allegations has been arrested and suspended.
Newspaper reports claim that the sexual and physical abuse ran over a 10 year period.
Garda Press say that as this is an ongoing investigation the Gardai will not be commenting further at this time.
