A new Garda crime programme to tackle verbal and physical abuse at the Mercy University Hospital has been launched
The Hospital Watch programme is a three-way partnership involving the Mercy, the HSE, and the Gardai and aims to reduce crime and boost security at the hospital and improve crime prevention awareness among staff and patients.
The Echo reports that that project promises to increase Garda visibility around the entire inner-city hospital campus up to and including daily patrols.
A Garda Hospital Liaison Officer is to be assigned to the hospital, in addition to the existing support of the Cork Garda divisional Crime Prevention Sergeant.
