Gardaí have issued a witness appeal following the deaths of two men at the Ironman Event in Youghal
It comes as an investigation has been opened into the deaths of Brendan Wall and Ivan Chittenden.
Last month Ironman threatened legal action against Triathlon Ireland as the row over when Ironman was told the race would not be sanctioned rumbles on.
The guards are appealing to anyone who was present at the swimming section of this event and who may have video footage to contact them.
The Ironman event took place in Youghal on the 20th of August.
2 men died while participating during the swimming leg of the race.
Brendan Wall was 44 when he lost his life during the event He was originally from Meath but living in Solihul in the UK at the time.
Brendan was laid to rest in Meath on the 24th of August.
In a seperate incident, Ivan Chittenden was a 65 year old man from Canada who was holidaying in Ireland when he lost his life taking part in the event.
A cremation service took place in the Rocky Island Crematorium and a memorial service was held for him in Toronto.
