Residents in Kilcully and Ballincrokig say they are in disbelief after an arson attack at a house in the area.
Emergency services were alerted to a fire on Glenville Street after a suspected petrol bomb was thrown through the house window at 9pm last night.
Fire crews extinguished the blaze and treated an elderly couple for smoke inhalation.
No arrests have been made.
Victor Shine from Cork City Fire Brigade says his crews were first on the scene:
"The fire service received the call at 09.08pm to a house fire in Kilcully. The front room was well alight, there was a substantial fire. Two persons had exited the house and they had to be treated for smoke inhalation by the ambulance service."
