Gardaí are investigating two separate incidents in Mahon and Blackpool.
There was a shooting in Mahon last Thursday morning when a 22 year old man presented to hospital with non life threatening injuries.
Later that afternoon a gang of men smashed the windows of a home in Blackpool when a woman and children were inside.
Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show, Irish Times Southern Correspondent Barry Roche says Gardaí are investigating whether or not the two incidents are linked:
"On Thursday group, these guys were 14 of them curled up with baseball bats and hurley's and smashed in windows and doors. The house went in there. There was a woman in there with number of kids, she was quite terrified. Gardaí are investigating whether that may be linked to the shooting Mahon."
