The Taoiseach says the government will consider introducing a mortgage relief scheme, amid rising interest rates.
Yesterday, the European Central Bank announced a seventh consecutive increase in a bid to bring down inflation.
Taoiseach Leo Varadkar says support will be considered in the Budget but made no promises - stating the tax package ‘can only be so big’.
Economist Austin Hughes believes the ECB will continue to hike rates.
"It's going to take a lot of interest rate pain to bring inflation down.
"I hope the ECB gets lucky and we see some unwinding of food and energy price inflation.
"Otherwise, we're looking at certainly two interest rate increases, possibly more than that."
