Every major business organisation in the city has urged the Government to approve a funding request for the completion of the Events Centre.
The group which includes the Cork branches of the Irish Hotels Federation and Vintners Federation says the project will create hundreds of jobs and attract around half a million people a year.
A decision on additional funding for one of the longest awaited projects in Cork’s recent history is expected this month
Speaking to RedFM News former Finance Minister Michael McGrath was asked if the original contract included a timeframe-clause for the project:
"In general each contract is dealt with on its own terms, this arrangment involving BAM, live nation, and Cork City Council. It is a complex arrangement and there will, subject to a Government agreement, need to be formal agreements entered into and signed"
