Half the candidates vying to become an Ireland South MEP have been eliminated.

The 13th count is getting underway in Cork following the elimination of Aontú’s Patrick Murphy.

The top four remains unchanged- with Sean Kelly already elected, however Mick Wallace has overtaken Cynthia Ní Mhurcú with 317 more votes putting in him in fourth in the five seat constituency.

Labour’s Niamh Hourigan from Limerick is out of the race and count staff will now redistribute her surplus.

It’s still looking like Billy Kelleher will have to wait until tomorrow morning at least before he is returned to Brussels.
