Healthcare workers are spending their lunch hour protesting outside CUH.
The INMO, Fórsa and SIPTU have joined forces to demonstrate their frustration at the HSE.
2000 posts remain unfilled after the HSE lifted the recruitment embargo but replaced it with a pay and numbers strategy.
Speaking to RedFM News, INMO Vice President and CUH ICU Nurse Ester Fitzgerald says the lack of staff means they can’t open beds for patients who need intensive care:
"I go in in the morning and if I have 17 beds and those beds are staffed, but that doesn't mean theres a call from A&E and I don't have a bed for that patient, and that falls on my shoulders because I think of that person waiting in ED in a sub optimal environment and the risks associated with that."
